Essex – Removing Right Motor Cover
This allows access to the output clutch assy, and the gears.
First, make a mark for easy re-alignment of the cover later on.

Next, remove the set screw entirely from the housing.

Hold the motor shell securely in a vice using rubber on the sides (take care to only clamp as much as needed to avoid damage to the housing), or you can install it back into the bike frame to hold it in place.
Then using the Pin Wrench, turn the right cover Counter Clockwise to loosen it.
If your motor does not have a set screw, the cover may need to be turned Clockwise instead.

Unscrew the cover the rest of the way, pushing the output down as you go so it stays with the main housing, and then lift the cover off.

To remove the output, remove the 6 screws holding it in place.

After maintenance, screw the right cover back onto the housing, tightening until the set screw lines up again (the mark made at the beginning is useful here), and re-install the set screw.
