Essex Headlight Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting steps if your Essex or EssexHP Headlight is not turning on, but the bike otherwise works properly.

You will need to have the battery installed in the bike to do the multimeter check step.

First, with a 2.5mm Allen Key, remove the 3 bolts holding the headlight onto the bike.

Next, inspect the lower area of the headlight for evidence of water damage, such as corrosion or rust.

Inspect the 4 connection points shown above, look for any broken wires, or wires that have come loose from their connector.

With a multimeter set to DC volts, measure the connector shown above. You should see between 25V and 55V (Make sure you have a battery installed in the bike).
